A rich and beautiful socialite. A reality star. A tabloid fodder. But Paris Hilton during the promotion of her album, "Paris" begs a glare beyond the stereotypes.

"I can understand people prejudging on that fact," she said, "but the music speaks for itself."

Hilton claims she recognizes the bewilderment over her transformation.

The 25-year-old heiress? breathy single, "Stars Are Blind," has skipped up Billboard's dance music charts and has become of the most sought after music video recently.

A variation from what has made her famous, Hilton says music has always been a passion. At the age of 6 she has been singing and playing the piano and violin too. She said that is it is something she has been doing her entire life.

Confident of the album's allure, Hilton believes that her fans will love it. Fans are downloading her ?Stars Are Blind? lyrics and other Paris Hilton songs.

Hilton said she sees herself in an odd position for an artist releasing her first album.

"Most artists, you know, they're unknown before they actually have their album come out," she said. "And with me, it's a different situation because people have seen me around for the past couple of years."
