Thrashing her preceding best launch by 4.5 percent in her album's opening frame, Christina Aguilera's array of jazz-influenced pop tunes, "Back to Basics" stands up with 342,000 sales.
Following "Basics" are Lyfe Jeniings with 136,000 copies sold, Trace Adkins with 115,000, new R&B ensemble Cherish with 91,000 and the soundtrack to "The Cheetah Girls 2" with 87,000 copies.
This is the third-time in the 50-year history of Billboard's album chart that five new entries take on the first five slots.
Assisting in delivering more volume in the top 10, Obie Trice opened with 74,000 copies increasing sales by six percent. In spite of this, there is still a 6.7 percent decline compared to 2005's sales. The deficit slipped a 4.1 percent by album catalogs.
There have been instances in billboard 200 history that all five top slots belonged to new titles, two of them happened this year.
May of this year, the recent fiver were Godsmack's "IV" leading the list, followed by Taking back Sunday, Bruce Spingsteen, Avant and Rihanna.respectively at Nos. 2-5. The top 10 included another bow: Goo Goo Dolls at No. 9. Obie Trice's first album was included in the first time five new albums in the list.
October in 2003 went better, with charts debuts on each of the top six rungs.
