After being rescued, she is sent to the hospital for treatment. After she regains consciousness in the hospital, she claims to be another young woman named Dakota Jordan.

She then faces a desperate race to convince people of her identity and save Aubrey's life while in the meantime raising questions as to whether she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or if something more sinister is occurring.

This is the second film in which Lohan has played two different characters, the first being in the remake of The Parent Trap where she played twins, Hallie Parker and Annie James.
