Akon was born in St. Louis, Missouri; under the very long name Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam. He either goes by his shorter name, Aliaune Thiam; or by his stage name, Akon. His father was a jazz musician, and this influenced his music taste.
