Metallica Still Hot After 2 Decades
Since 1981, Metallica has been heavy in the music scene. One of the "big four" thrash metal bands, this heavy metal band has sold more than 90 million albums all over the world.

The first ever album released by the band is Kill 'Em All, way back 1983. This album went platinum three times in its lifetime on the charts. One of the stronger tracks off this album was Whiplash. The Whiplash track was written by both James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the two members who officially started the band.

Whiplash concentrates on the usual practice of headbanging when listening to rock music. This track is also the only song in which Metallica makes a reference to the band by name. What are the lyrics to Metallicas Whiplash is actually a good question. The original lyrics include Hetfield singing "But we'll never stop, we'll never quit, 'cause we're Metallica." In concerts, Hetfield changes the pronoun from "we" to "you", to credit the fans for being the ones who made Metallica.

In 1984, the band made a cover of the song Am I Evil, by Diamond Head. Am I Evil Metallica was an additional track released with the Creeping Death track. Am I Evil Metallica was released in November 1984. The Am I Evil Metallica track made a second appearance on the rehash of the album Kill 'Em All.

The band came back with the Master of Puppets album in 1986. This was bassist Cliff Burton's last album with the band. Burton died in a bus accident the band had had when they were touring in 1986. The album itself is considered one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time. Orion, the 7th track off the album, was composed by Cliff Burton himself. James Hetfield also helped compose the Orion Metallica track. Orion Metallica was made to be an instrumental piece. Orion Metallica was titled such as emphasis on the star-like sounds that come out in the song. The Orion Metallica track was played during Burton's cremation.

Despite this sad event, the band came back with their 1988 album ?And Justice For All. And this was the time when the band won a Grammy for the Best Metal Performance award. This was for the performance of the song One. The Metallica One video was the first video the band had ever made. This created controversy because Metallica was once against the concept of making videos.

Metallica released their fifth album Metallica: The Black Album. This album took the 252nd place on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. And with this album came what is most probably the most popular hit of the band, Enter Sandman. Metallica Sandman track is about a child who is afraid of falling asleep. The kid in Metallica Sandman is scared of the nightmares that come with sleep. Metallica Enter Sandman features a child reciting a prayer in the latter part of the song. Metallica Enter Sandman became so popular that many covers have been made off it. Metallica Enter the Sandman has even been used by wrestlers for their entrance themes.

Metallica is also quite versatile. The band has worked on a Christmas track. The band is featured in Carol of the Bells Metallica of the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Metallica Carol of the Bells is a track that showcases more than 3 minutes of the band's musical talents. They also did a medley performance of songs by Lenny Kravitz and Nirvana on the MTV VMAs in 2003. This Metallica Lenny Nirvana video is now on YouTube.

Right now, Metallica is working on their 9th studio album. There is no official date for the release of this album yet. So, for the latest news on the band, just log on to their many fan websites.
