Korn Readies Next HitHailed as the founder of the nu metal genre, Korn once again gears up to crash the airwaves with the much anticipated release of their eight album slated this year.
Korn has since partnered with EMI and signed to Virgin Records after completing their record deal with Sony Records. In exchange for a share in the profits of their next two LPs, EMI has paid Korn $25 million upon the signing of the contract. The deal includes an agreed share from revenues derived from the album including tours and merchandising, ticket sales, and band licensing among others.
Creating a new wave of sorts combining nu metal, alternative, and rock, Korn has since appealed to yuppies and professional athletes such as NBA's tim duncan, sc james f. byrnes football korn. Twisted Transistor, the first single off the album, contained a comic video by Dave Meyers featuring rap stars Xzibit, Lil' Jon, Snoop Dogg, and David Banner portraying Korn.
Enjoying a massive video play on TV music stations worldwide, the album also contained play me - korn featuring nas. Play me - korn featuring nas peaked at number three on Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.
Korn's first album with Virgin Records, which also had korn forsaken queen of the damned mp3 as one of its strongest tracks, sold over two million copies worldwide and went platinum in the U.S. on March 16.

The Australian leg of the See You on the Other Side tour, with 10 Years, Hatebreed, and Disturbed, marked the first time Korn visited Australia since their Take A Look In The Mirror tour in February of 2004.
After the series of tours, Korn had announced the resurrection of their "Family Values Tour", which kicked off July 29, 2006 in Nashville, TN. The Family Values Tour featured Korn, Deftones, Stone Sour, Flyleaf, 10 Years, Bury Your Dead, Deadsy, Bullets and Octane, and Walls of Jericho.
Korn's most popular song, "Freak On A Leash" took the 23rd spot of VH1's 40 Greatest Metal Songs Of All Time, which triggered rapid downloads from the internet including ringtones, windows xp logon screens korn theme tones, and full korn music videos of freak on a leash.
On November 14, albumvote.co.uk announced that the band is to release MTV Unplugged: Korn, on February 19, 2007 in the UK and February 20 in the US. The first single off the acoustic live album is "Freak on a Leash" with guest appearance of Amy Lee from Evanescence.
