Bow Wow was always not known as such. This established rapper and actor was once christened Lil Bow Wow by rapper Snoop Dogg. And this was when he was just 6 years old!

Born Shad Gregory Moss on March 1987, Bow Wow stepped into a broken family. His biological father left the family, leaving his mother no choice but to hold 3 jobs just to support the family.

At age 5, Bow Wow began to develop his rapping skills. This was in 1992. A year later, Bow Wow performed in Columbus under the name Kid Gangsta. He then caught the eyes of rap moguls Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. He was immediately taken in under their wings. The rappers changed his name from Kid Gangsta to Lil' Bow Wow. Thus, the birth of the young rapper Lil' Bow Wow.

At such a young age, Lil' Bow Wow immediately rose to fame and fortune. The release of album after album after album gained positive Lil Bow Wow reviews from music critics worldwide. And this is not a surprise because his rapping skills are really superb. In no time, Lil Bow Wow websites began flooding the web.

Following his immense success in the music industry, Lil' Bow Wow decided to venture into the movie industry as well. In 2002, Lil' Bow Wow got the lead role in the movie Like Mike. With this movie came the track Basketball, featured on the soundtrack of the movie itself. The Lil Bow Wow - basketball mp3 received a lot of digital downloads as soon as it was featured on the web. The Lil Bow Wow - basketball mp3 also featured the rapping talents of mentor Jermaine Dupri. This movie did pretty good for Lil' Bow Wow's debut attempt.

In 2003, Lil' Bow Wow felt that he was already maturing, so he decided to drop the word "Lil'" from his stage name. And this is a pretty reasonable move, considering that Bow Wow was already 16 years old at the time. Physically, Bow Wow was no longer "lil'" as well. Bow Wowshortie like mine took the 9th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart upon its release. This is quite a personal song for Bow wow, as claimed by the artist. The Bow wowshortie like mine track speaks to him because the song discusses what he's been through in the past months.

Bow wow like mine is also one of the tracks co-produced by Bow Wow with Jermaine Dupri. The young rapper also collaborated with Chris Brown for this. Longtime friends Chris Brown and Bow Wow enjoyed making this track. Bow Wowshorty like mine is supposed to come out in Chris Brown's album, but it didn't make it in the end. So, Bow Wow and Chris Brown decided to include it in Bow Wow's album instead.
