Hilary Duff appears on the cover for Jane Magazine's December/January edition. And this raises mixed reactions from her fans. Some fear that their music and movie idol will turn out to be another Linsday Lohan while some merely praises the teen star of her sexy yet tasteful pictures in the magazine.

Several pages of the teen star in provocative poses and in very minimal clothing appear in the recent issue of the magazine. Though avid fans respect the decision of their idol, some critics can't help but wonder. Is this Duff's one way of saying that she is over teeny-bopper roles?

This Lizzie Maguire star has long since guarded her image and has been very conscious of the way she appears on magazines and on TV and even have been choosy of her roles. She fears drastic changes might do harm on her image and may elicit negative reactions from her very young fan base.

Hilary Duff has also appeared as cover girl for various magazines. These include Lucky magazine and Elle, in which she also supposedly "ditches that too-sweet side."

Hilary Duff first graced the entertainment industry through movies. In 1998, she starred in the film Casper Meets Wendy. Then in 1999 in the television film, The Soul Collector in which she gained a Young Artist Award for "Best Performance in a TV Movie or Pilot."

But the world took notice of this young star when she starred in the kid series Lizzie Maguire, playing the role of the lead star. As would suggest, her fan base were young kids religiously tuning in on every episode and hoping to catch a glimpse of their also young idol.

And so, Hilary Duff had taken to value her young audience and all her projects were made with the caution of protecting her image. Though she progressed to teenage roles, she still carefully picked out her movies. Among these were Cheaper by the Dozen, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, A Cinderella Story and Materials Girls in which she starred with sister, Haylie Duff.

Even as Hilary Duff decided to pursue a career in music, her image did not drastically change and her songs reflected only those of the teenager's concerns: about breaking up with boys and other adolescent issues.
