Although originally hailing from the town of Illinois, young jibs grew up on the South Side of St. Louis. He was first exposed to the music world when he started hanging out with his brother, Da Beatstaz DJ Beats in the studio. jibs then started "free-styling and dusting off local & visiting rappers in the Beatsaz studio."

Surely enough, he began getting offers from various major labels as he was spotted during these shows. The young artist then decided to sign up with Geffen Records, which is also the home of music artists Pharrell and Snoop Dogg.
Then in October of last year, his debut album jibs feat. Jibbs was released. He was only 16 at this time. The album reached #12 on the US Billboard 200 and reached 208, 942 in sales. jibbs chains hang low and king kong by jibs were the hits that came out of the record.

This year, another single is set to be released and this is Go Too Far, a track featuring Melody Thornton. With a recognition by AOL as one of the hottest artists of 2006 already bagged by the young rapper, fans can't wait on what will come next for young jibs.
