Armed with the killer album to last the fans for the entire year, nelly furtado doesn't stop here. She aims to invade the entertainment industry with hopes of being the next singer turned actress in this business.

Acting started out for this Canadian singer when in middle school she participated in plays. She also enrolled herself in acting classes to further hone her acting ability. Various projects had already been planned for nelly furtado but unfortunate circumstance prevented these from becoming into a finished and done deal.

She was set to appear in a Hindi film which supposedly was what pushed her to study acting. For reasons unknown, this plan didn't push through. But conflicting filming dates and promotion dates for her album Loose prevented her from filming the movie.

Now, after so many hindrances, the world will finally see the nelly furtado singing sensation on her TV debut. A Canadian News magazine, eTalk reported that the singer is set to appear on a February episode of CSI New York. Here she will play a shoplifter who is suspected of murder.

Like her relentless passion to pursue acting, Nelly also possesses the same persistence with her music career.

First heard of with her debut album, Whoa Nelly, the public quickly accepted and greatly praised her ability not only in singing but in songwriting as well. This first album brought out the hits Turn Off the Light and I'm Like a Girl which earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2002.

But that was not all. After the not so successful second album Folklore, and after giving birth to daughter Nevis, nelly furtado released her third studio album Loose.

Here, the public saw a different side of the artist as the album reflected a more hip-hop and R&B style to her music. Her musical diverseness is said to come from vast musical influences which includes TLC, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Oasis, Radiohead, U2 and Jeff Buckley.

The artist claims that her different tastes in music may also be largely due to the fact that she grew up in Toronto, Canada which she greatly refers as "the most multicultural city in the entire world." This exposure to various cultures enabled her also to be open to different kinds of music.
