Priest behind Madonna?s Bomb ThreatA 63-year-old priest came clean to buzzing a phony bomb threat to a Madonna concert in the Dutch Capital City, Amsterdam, last week.
The priest was hoping to prevent Madonna from performing her famous "crucifixion act". A mock re-enactment of the crucifixion of Christ by the ?Material Girl? pop star displeased some Christians during previous performances in Italy and Germany. Despite handful of protesters, two Amsterdam concerts went ahead as planned on Sunday and Monday.
Since it was very likely this was the priest's first such offense, prosecutors would ask for a community service punishment for him.
Immediately after calling the threat Sunday, the priest was arrested since he used his home phone to make the call. He called an emergency services number where the call was automatically traced.
The Dutch priest was brought before a judge Friday, and has been released pending judgment. "We take bomb treats seriously, but in this case it was clear quickly that it was not real," Amsterdam prosecution spokesman Robert Meulenbroek said.
As a punishment, Meulenbroek quipped that they should let the priest learn all Madonna's lyrics by heart.
Madonna and her staffs now move to Prague. |
