Ching is back with his 3rd installment Hoodstar! This time around, the ching-a-ling is back with an album that is close to his heart.
But there have been some controversies circling the rapper's star status. For starters, Ching has been sued with allegations that he had once breached his record deal with Trak Starz, to sign on with rapper Ludacris' music label. Ronald R. Gavin from Trak Starz sued Ching for at least 250,000 US dollars.
But news of this lawsuit has since boiled over. With Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace, Ching released his debut album Jackpot. This was in early July of 2003. The album was quite a success, going platinum thrice! Ching Skit, in particular, received much airplay. Because of this, Ching Skit was able to garner a lot of attention to this debut album. In the US alone, Jackpot had garnered three million in sales!
Sadly, despite successful tracks like Right Thurr, Sample Dat Ass, One Call Away, and Holidae Inn, a rift ensued between Ching and Ludacris. It seems Ching felt that Luda had somehow cheated money out of him. Luda, on his part, denied these allegations, and went on to prove them false. But the relationship was far too battered already. In the end, Ching left Luda's label, to pursue his own path.
In 2004, Ching released his 2nd installment, Powerballin'. The power tracks off this album are Balla Baby, Ching i do, and Don't Worry, featuring Janet Jackson. The album, as a whole, did not do as well as the debut. This is even with the success of tracks Balla Baby and Ching i do. The album garnered just about 800,000 in record sales. However, Ching did release the collaborative track, Ching i like that. The rapper is featured in rapper Houston's Ching i like that.
Ching then took some time off, composing tracks for his 3rd installment, Hoodstar. The 3rd album was released mid-September of 2006, with lead singles pulling me back Ching and 'Dem Jeans' feat. Jermaine Dupri - Ching.
The album is split into two separate sides: the Hood and the Star. The decision to do this comes from Ching personally. Ching wanted his tracks to reflect the life he's had, coming from the ghetto. These street-smart tracks were then placed on the Hood side. The rapper also wanted to include club tracks on the album. These tracks were then placed on the Star side.
The lead single, pulling me back Ching, features rapper Tyrese, and is produced by mentor Jermaine Dupri. It then took the 9th spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The single became the rapper's 4th track that made the Top 10.
The latest track off the album, 'Dem Jeans' feat. Jermaine Dupri - Ching, was released late August of 2006. dem jeans Ching was also made available for digital download. The highest spot that Dem Jeans AND Ching has reached is actually the 19th spot on the US Billboard Hot Rap Tracks. But them jeans Ching has already penetrated other charts, such as US Billboard Hot 100 and US Billboard Hot Digital Songs.
The Ching them jeans track was actually written by the rapper himself. dem jeans Ching speculate about how women with ample buttocks get themselves into Ching jeans. Now this concept does fit into the Star side of the album!
Model Bria Myles is featured in the music video for Dem Jeans Ching. Cameos were also rendered by artists Bun B & David Banner. The rapping skills of mentor Jermaine Dupri are also featured in Ching dem jeans. This Ching mp3 track gained more exposure when it appeared on episodes of the hit series CSI: Miami and The O.C.
Although the album has not garnered that much sales yet, it is definitely safe to say that Ching is back with a vengeance for his 3rd installment. Be sure to check out Ching's tracks on MyLyricsCentral.com!
