It seems that Snow Patrol the Band has been through their share of bad luck. In just a few years at the height of career, band members had to go through adversaries that really affected their tours. Back in May of last year, Gary Lightbody encountered some throat problems that prompted them to cancel some of their shows. This was amidst their Eyes Open tour and the gig had gotten postponed into a couple of months.
The singer and guitarist of the Snow Patrol the Band had already been diagnosed as having Laryngitis even before the tour stated and was advised to take a week off. But because he didn't want to miss out on the almost daily shows they had, he didn't follow the doctor's orders. And what do you get when you don't pay attention to what the doctor says? You pay consequences of course! And this is what Gary Lightbody just did.
Some Snow Patrol fans though attribute the throat problems to the band's heavy partying and drinking and staying up all night. The vocalist assured the public though that he has been controlling it a bit in that department and he had not been drinking at all during that US tour. Gary declared that he's even taking more care of himself already and is following the right diet and going to the gym unfortunately his body is just wearing down on him. "The simple fact is that my voice is worn out," he stated.
Shows got rescheduled for some months because of this to allow for the vocalist to fully recuperate. But just last month, another hindrance posed as a threat yet again to their European and Australian tour as Snow Patrol drummer Jonny Quinn broke his arm. The band took drastic measures though as not to sacrifice the tour and hired somebody else to take his place while he recovers.
And even in between these two events, some minor holdups have also occurred that obscured them in some of their shows. Terrorist threats on US bounds flights from the UK gave them great difficulty to reach their shows. Then one incident of a luggage problem elicited that resulted of their instruments gotten holdup in customs.
The band got US popularity with chasing cars Snow Patrol third single from their fourth album. Snow Patrol chasing cars got the popularity after it got featured on the season finale of the medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Snow Patrol chasing cars also got featured also in the season finale of yet another teen drama O.C. And because of all these appearances, the US public and even the international audience turned their attention to the band.
Formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland, Snow Patrol had to go through two albums before it was able to record its breakthrough success. The third album, Final Straw, rocketed them to the top of the UK charts and also gave them a chance for a US fan base. The fourth album, Eyes Open, also proved to be a big hit and received huge recognitions for the singles hands open Snow Patrol and Snow Patrol all i have.
Now, Snow Patrol gained a wide array of fans and received great praises for their songs. Just this month at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards, Snow Patrol bagged four awards for the night. These were Best Irish Band, Best Live Performance, Best Irish Album for Eyes Open and Most Downlaoded Irish Song.
It'll surely take more than laryngitis, broken arms and flight problems to bring down this band. Snow Patrol the Band surely showed their fans that whatever blocks you put their way, they are not easy to just sit it out.
