It seldom happens that an American band decides to move to the UK for better leverage in the music scene. And this is exactly what happened to the band named The Killers.
This all-American rock band started out in Las Vegas, Nevada back in 2002. The band is made up of Brandon Flowers on vocals and keyboards, Dave Keuning on guitar and vocals, Marl Stoermer on bass and vocals, and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. on drums.
All band members had had a variety of jobs before they got together. Flowers worked as a bellhop for the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Keuning worked at the Banana Republic. He later quit when the manager wouldn't allow him to play music while at work. Stoermer was a medical courier while studying at UNLV for a degree in Philosophy. Vannucci was a student at the UNLV as well, studying classical percussion to become a teacher. Vannucci was also a photographer for the Little Chapel of the Flowers, and a pedicab driver for the Aladdin Hotel on the side.
The Killers started out by having an act in a small club in Denver, Colorado. This brought exposure for the band. And they attracted the eyes of talent scouts from the UK. In 2001, an indie label from the UK, Lizard King Records, offered the band a deal. The Killers accepted this deal and moved to England shortly after. And the rest is history.
In June 2004, The Killers released their debut album Hot Fuss, which was welcomed in open arms by the UK. The album has sold at least 5 million copies worldwide, to date.
Two years later, The Killers released their sophomore album, Sam's Town early October of 2006. The first single off the album is The Killers when young. The band reveals that The Killers when young has a more American beat to it. The main figure of influence for The Killers young is actually renowned American singer Bruce Springsteen. When you listen to The Killers young, it's not hard to feel the Springsteen touch at all. To date, when we were young The Killers is the band's strongest track on the charts in the UK. when you were young The Killers has already reached as far as 14th place on the US Hot 100 chart. And the success of when we were young The Killers goes beyond the charts as well, for it was nominated for the Best Rock Single award in the 2007 Grammy Awards. Plus, when you were young The Killers mp3 has scaled the digital download charts as well.
The second single, The Killers_bones, was released late November of 2006. However, The Killers_bones has not equaled the hit status of When You Were Young. The bones The Killers track only made the 21st spot on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. The only thing that The Killers bones apparently has going for itself is its music video. Renowned director Tim Burton directed the music video for bones The Killers, with actress Devon Aoki. Even The Killers bones mp3 did not do well on the UK Download Chart.
Other tracks off the album that haven't been made available for mainstream radio are The Killers bling mp3 and The Killers interlude. But there are some sites featuring The Killers bling mp3 already. However, mp3s of The Killers interlude have yet to surface. But no matter the lack of these The Killers mp3 tracks, the band did manage to make the Christmas track, A Great Big Sled, for 2006. People who did Download A Great Big Sled - The Killers mp3 last year were able to help many AIDS charities for the RED campaign of U2's Bono.
The next single off the album is Read My Mind. This track has already been released in the US, just this February 13, 2007. It has not been released in the UK yet. But there's no reason to fret because according to The Killers daily news, the single will be released this February 26 already. Now, that's really something to look forward to.
