German Band Rammstein A Household Name

Bands nowadays give more importance to the preferences of the world market. But this is not the case with the German band Rammstein.

The band Rammstein cannot be classified into a single genre. Doing so would not do the Rammstein justice at all. This is because their works are influenced by hard rock, industrial metal, electronic music, and Gothic. The band's works are primarily performed in German. In fact, this practice is quite exclusive. Despite this, the band has sold more than 12 million records around the world.

The name Rammstein actually comes from the western town Ramstein-Miesenbach, where the Ramstein Air Base is located. An airshow accident occurred at Ramstein Air Base way back 1988. The band chose the name, to commemorate the catastrophe. When asked why the extra letter "m" in their name, Rammstein answers that it was to make clear the image of their music as hard and fierce. Adding the "m" makes the word mean "battering ram". Quite appropriate for the band.

The founders of the band are Oliver Riedel, Christoph Schneider, Richard Zven Kruspe. Kruspe wanted to join the bandwagon and make music that would penetrate the American market. But Kruspe had an epiphany and decided that the band should stick with the native language.

In 1997, Rammstein released their Sehnsucht album. The name of the album actually translates to Longing or Hunger. This album is, by far, the only album sung in German in its entirety that has reached Platinum status in the US.

The tracks Rammstein du haust and buck dich Rammstein came off this album. The Rammstein du hast track is actually the most famous single the band has ever made. The literal meaning of the title is "You have". Its fame led to the Rammstein du hast mp3 scaling digital download charts to this day. Bück dich, on the other hand, is famous for the controversy it stirred. The literal meaning for buck dich Rammstein is "Bend down" or "Bend over". The nature of the track leans towards leads to sexual domination and sodomy. A performance of buck dich Rammstein simulating sodomy in Worcester, Massachusetts led to the arrest of the band.

With fame came notoriety as well. But this did not bother the band because they just wanted to push boundaries with their songs and performances. In 2001, the band released their album Mutter, which is German for "mother". Off this track came Rammstein sonne, which was to be used as the entrance song for boxer Vitali Klitschko. The Rammstein sonne track is so loud, that people can't help but question how the band was able to pull off such loud guitar sounds.

Another piece of controversy linked to the band is the Rammstein barbie girl incident. The German version of the Aqua track Barbie Girl has been credited to Rammstein. However, the band is adamant in their sentiments that they did not make a German version of the Rammstein barbie girl at all.

In 2004, the band released another album, Reise, Reise, which literally means "Arise, Arise". Off this album came the controversial track, Amerika. Upon listening to the Rammstein america mp3, people have had mixed reactions to it. Some found the Rammstein america mp3 to be anti-American. Others found the Rammstein america mp3 to be against the concept of globalization. Nonetheless, it gained the attention of even more fans.

With the many Rammstein websites worldwide, free Rammstein downloads of various kinds have been made available. There are some that feature Rammstein keyboard music sheets. Others offer Rammstein Wallpaper downloads, Rammstein Videos, and free Rammstein downloads of Rammstein mp3 tracks. For starters, there's the blade theme techno - Rammstein mp3. Through the many Rammstein websites, the blade theme techno - Rammstein mp3 has been made more accessible.

The success of the band has led to them becoming the most successful German band in the international scene. So successful that the asteroid 110393 Rammstein was even named after them. Now, how cool is that?
