Eminem: No More Dissing?

Hold up, hold up! What's this I hear? Eminem has sworn off profanity? Are you for real? Seriously, it's hard to imagine Eminem's lyrics without profanity, or even some semblance of such that's more than enough to cause controversy!

Yes. Eminem has brought forth a lot of controversy ever since he stormed the music scene. Let's see, well, the beginning is always a great place to start for a little reminiscing.

Remember My Name Is from 1999's Slim Shady LP? "Try acid and get f*cked up worse than my life is" was indeed a little too profane for some audiences worldwide. And what about the part about Pamela Lee's tits? Yep, still profane. But My Name Is still went on to become Eminem's stepping stone into success.

And then came Stan, The Way I Am, and Kim. Now, these tracks did propel Eminem further into the wheel of fortune. But the words fuck, bitch, shit, and prick are rampant all throughout these tracks. And murder and suicide are constant themes on these tracks.

And the juice just doesn't stop flowing! The lyrics to Superman, Without Me, and Cleaning Out My Closet are well laden with profanity! As well as the lyrics to Mockingbird, Mosh, Shake That, and You Don't Know!

Mosh, in particular, has gone beyond profane lyrics. For it struck a lot of controversy during the time of the 2004 presidential elections. The lyrics basically talk about the importance of voting wisely. Now, these may very well be good intentions, especially when Eminem is encouraging the younger generations to vote wisely and all. But the lyrics clearly denote an anti-Bush message. The music video shows a lot of pickets surrounding the White House, which clearly portrays discontent with the Bush administration. Two versions of the music video were made, and efforts were made to conceal the uncensored one. Mosh is off Eminem's 2004 album, Encore.

Perhaps the only tracks that have lesser profane lyrics, so to speak, are You Don't Know and When I'm Gone. Well, You Don't Know does have a little cuss here and there. But it's significantly "cleaner" than his other tracks. As for When I'm Gone, this is actually a rare sentimental track made by the rapper for his daughter, Hailie. This can very well be the first ever Eminem track that doesn't have any profanity in it! Seriously, even children can listen to the mp3 of this track without having their parents worrying about it. Because When I'm Gone contains lyrics that any father would sing for his daughter.

Quite the change, wouldn't you say? But the lack of profanity, as mentioned above, isn't really related to the lyrics of his coming tracks at all. In fact, this matter is actually related to an agreement the rapper has made with his ex-wife, Kim.

Over the years, y'all have probably gained some insight about the messy marriage Eminem had had with his ex-wife. And you probably know about this from the lyrics to his tracks themselves! Well, get this! Just recently, the warring twosome has finally arranged to be agreeable and civil with each other. Gone will be the public signature lashings at each other, as agreed in court late March of 2007. Finally! This will definitely bring a moment of peace in their lives! And this will also prove to be healthier for the warring twosome's beloved daughter, Hailie. In fact, even Eminem agreed that the public fights could definitely influence their daughter in a negative way.

But you can still expect some dissing against his wife from the rapper, because the court order doesn't extend to that area, so to speak. Oh, well, this is one huge leap for the Mathers! Should it extend into the lyrical content? Now, that would be a welcomed change as well.
