MCR's Mikey Way Takes Leave of Absence

My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way has tied the knot and will be taking a brief time off from the band to start off his married life on the right foot, and big brother My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is kind enough to give way for his little bro's honeymoon.

Mikey wed his long time girlfriend Alicia Simmons by an ordained minister at the backstage of the Orleans Arena in Vegas before the start of one of the shows of My Chemical Romance.

Gerard posted on the band's official website that Mikey will be leaving the band for a while to kick off a good start with his wife starting off with a proper honeymoon and the settling process a new couple has to take after marriage.

It was not however made clear when Mikey will be rejoining the band but Gerard assures the fans of My Chemical Romance that Mikey will definitely be back enthusing that he is happy with the nuptials of his baby brother and he is positive that this will not be the end of My Chemical Romance.

Gerard Way, who stood by his brother's wedding as the best man, said despite Mikey's absence, My Chemical Romance will push through with The Black Parade Tour with a temporary replacement to fill in Mikey's place.

The My Chemical Romance Black Parade Tour will run until the 22nd of May in Portland, Oregon.

My Chemical Romance was formed in 2001. The current members of the band are Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Bob Bryar, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro.

Inspired by the tragic 9/11 attacks, Gerard Way formed the band and recorded their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.

My Chemical Romance signed a record deal with Reprise Records in 2003 which paved way for their first platinum record Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge that spawned hits The Ghost of You, I'm Not Okay (I Promise,) Helena, and Thank You for the Venom.

Original drummer Matt Pelissier left the band after a Japan gig in 2004. Pelissier, who was replaced by Bryar, was booted out due to conflicts with Ray Toro due to Pelissier's errors during live concerts of My Chemical Romance.

In 2006, My Chemical Romance released the Life on the Murder Scene 2 DVD/1 CD package, which contains chronicles of the history of My Chemical Romance and pictures, and music videos including footages of live performances and the making of their videos.

Also that same year, My Chemical Romance released their third studio album The Black Parade and the videos for the first two singles of the album "Famous Last Words" and "Welcome to the Black Parade" were released early this year.

Early this month, the third My Chemical Romance mp3 off The Black Parade album, I Don't Love You, was released in the United Kingdom. In the US, instead of I Don't Love You, My Chemical Romance opted to release "Teenagers" as the third single.

The Black Parade track list also includes The End, Cancer, Mama, Dead, The Sharpest Lives, House of Wolves, This is How I Disappear, Sleep, Blood, and Disenchanted.

Despite the band describing themselves as plainly rock or violent pop, My Chemical Romance has been categorized by critics and fans as alternative rock, pop punk, emo, punk revival, and post-hardcore.

Frequently compared to Ink & Dagger, My Chemical Romance said their musical influences are actually from Iron Maiden, Queen, The Misfits, Thursday, Pink Floyd, and Morrissey/The Smiths.

You might ask where this group got their knack in theater style horrific stage presence? As they say they grew up influenced by comic books and horror films which is clearly evident in My Chemical Romance's music and lyrics.
