Beyonce Knowles did not see it coming and apparently, pulling out the deluxe edition of her B'Day album from store shelves is the only solution to iron out the problem she got herself into.
Beyonce Knowles is now facing a lawsuit for alleged copyright violation against British singer Des'ree.
The bootylicious Beyonce was allowed by Des'ree's music publisher Royalty Network to record a cover of Des'ree's "I'm Kissing You" on the conditions that Beyonce Knowles will neither use the track in a video nor change the title of the song.
But it seems that Beyonce paid no attention to the terms and went on with renaming the song to "Still in Love (Kissing You)" and to her heart's content used it on her B'Day Anthology Video Album.
However, Beyonce claimed she never really intended to use the track in her album but recorded it only for her own consumption. Nevertheless, a last minute decision brought about by prodding from friends prompted her to include the song in her album.
On the other hand, Royalty Network, upon hearing that Beyonce included a renamed version of Des'ree's track on her deluxe album ordered Sony to stop the distribution of the album due to lack of clearance.
However, Sony ignored the court documents and went on with the circulation of the album. Such cold-shoulder treatment angered the Royalty Network and back lashed with a total renunciation that it ever allowed Beyonce to re-record the track in any form.
Royalty Network, based on court documents, seeks $150,000 in damages and an injunction to withdraw the distribution of the deluxe and DVD editions of B'Day.
Beyonce's team agreed to temporarily stop the circulation of the album while the case is still heard in court. Initial hearing starts May 4.
B'Day is the second studio album of Beyonce, which was released in time for her 25th birthday September of last year.
Beyonce recorded B'Day within two weeks while shooting the film Dreamgirls. Without telling her father what she was up to, Beyonce booked the entire New York City Sony Studios writing lyrics and recording three songs daily with hotshot producers including The Neptunes, Rodney Jerkins, Swizz Beatz, Stargate, Walter Milsap, Rich Harrison, and Cameron Wallace.
Beyonce said she recorded B'Day because she did not want to come up with another album like Dangerously In Love.
Dangerously In Love is the debut solo album of Beyonce that spawned hits Crazy In Love and Baby Boy.
Meanwhile, the other hit tracks included in the B'Day album of Beyonce, aside from the controversial Des'ree track, are Deja vu, Listen, Check On It, Ring the Alarm, Irreplaceable, the Beyonce and Shakira tandem in Beautiful Liar, Get Me Bodied, and Upgrade U.
However, the Listen track, which was originally written by Beyonce, Scott Cutler, and Anne Preven is only available as a hidden track on the international editions of Beyonce's B'Day album.
The lead single Deja vu, which features Beyonce beau Jay-Z peaked at the top spot of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs while the second single Ring the Alarm, managed to peak at number 11 of the Hot 100.
And the hottest of them all so far is Irreplaceable, which stayed at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 for ten straight weeks.
On the other hand, the Beyonce Shakira duet, Beautiful Liar is currently doing well in both US and UK charts.
The success of the Spanish collaboration with Shakira prompted Beyonce to come up with a Spanish re-release of B'Day.
The B'Day mp3 added a Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy Award to Beyonce's collection of various acknowledgments for her talent, artistry, and contributions to the music industry.
