With the heart of making music for the right reasons, rockstar Nickelback fourth album All the Right Reasons, ditches any pretense of being a grunge band and finally acknowledges they're a straight-up heavy rock band.
Frontman Chad Kroeger says ?the most important reason is to make music because you love it. And I think that?s why we spend so much time on it. On this record, we didn?t want to overlook any small detail.?
Throughout the creation of All the Right Reasons, listen to - Nickelback - i want to be a rock star tries a few things, tweaked verses, adding more pianos, keyboards, changed choruses, acoustic guitars, altered arrangements until the songs passed the band?s own litmus test.
Nickelback, composed of Chad Kroeger (Vocals, Guitar), Ryan Peake (Guitar, Vocals), Mike Kroeger (Bass) and Daniel Adair (Drums) had been on tour since summer of 2004 for their album The Long Road.
After the album sold around 5 million copies worldwide, the band decided to take some time off but two weeks into their vacation, the group felt that old familiar urge to think about new songs.
Using Kroeger?s studio, All the Right Reasons was completed in around seven months, just exactly the way they wanted it.
Co-produced with their friend Joey Moi, the resulting 11 tracks are the most insistent, dynamic and diverse rock star Nickelback has come up with to date.
With a surprisingly large sentimental streak running throughout All the Right Reasons, and it's not just limited to heart-on-sleeve power ballads like lyrics for far away by Nickelback and "Savin' Me."
?Savin? Me? is a call for redemption that?s driven by a combination of ringing and fuzzy guitars, undeniable vocals, gliding strings and delicate piano.
In a rather pensive mood, Chad Kroeger looks back fondly at his crazy times in high school on "Photograph," which is reflective and earnest, constructed on a foundation of multi-layered vocals, infectious melodies and guitars that build to a triumphant buzz.
?Fight For All The Wrong Reasons? echoes with textural guitars and evolves from a moody melody into a crunchy, southern-tinged riff.
Lamenting the murder of Dimebag Darrell on "Side of a Bullet" (where a Dimebag solo is overdubbed), and, most touching of all, imagining "the day when nobody died" on "If Everyone Cared".
This fourth album shied away from the usual personal tone of rock star Nickelback but rather this time the group searched every inch of their sonic spectrum to create an album that appeals on many different levels.
Kroger says that with this album, the group wanted to show our range and have songs that work for all the diverse fans that go to rock star Nickelback shows and listen to their records.
Joining Nickelback just in time to make All the Right Reasons was new drummer, Daniel Adair. Adair?s hard-hitting yet multifaceted style perfectly matched the band?s new material.
Over the years, Nickelback?s music has appealed to listeners of pop, hard rock, alternative and metal.
More than that, the group has also earned the respects of celebrity artists including ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons and ex-Pantera members Vinnie Paul and the late Dimebag Darrell Abbott.
Like all of Nickelback?s albums, All the Right Reasons was born of sincerity, emotional revelation and a genuine love for music, and the necessity of an artist to create, explore and try to understand more about the world around him. Hence the album title, which was a play off the track ?Fight For All the Wrong Reasons.?
